Cleanup Your Kitchen Drains

Kitchens are considered the most tedious and need attention as far as cleanliness is concern for both commercial and residential places. For the very basic reason that foods are prepared and stored in this area, we should keep it clean and sanitary. Maintenance of our kitchen tools and equipments are of utmost importance for hygienic reasons too. Sadly, and awfully, there are kitchens that cleanliness standards are not properly maintained especially in commercial areas like restaurants. Whether for residential and commercial places, there are some basic tips to maintain a hygienic kitchen.

Very important for kitchen hygiene is having a good type of drain. A good and proper Commercial Garbage Disposal Leaking system is critical for commercial use. Unlike in personal or residential kitchen that is used for light preparations and cooking, commercial kitchens are heavily used and this should be given the proper drainage system.

A clean and hygienic commercial kitchen place should have these characteristics together with the proper Grease Trap Cleaning system:

1.            Kitchen flooring should be set with the drain at its lowest floor level, thus preventing water from setting on the floor and goes directly to the drain.

2.            Filters are properly in placed and maintained for the sink, ventilation equipment, drains and water system.  This will prevent solid items to pass into the drain.

3.            Kitchen cleaning should be convenient with the drain set at its proper level.

4.            Draining large amount of unusable liquid and liquidized materials can be done without cross contamination with hot and oily greasy matters, or liquid with strong acid, etc.

5.            Clean the kitchen floor regularly with baking soda mixed with hot water. This will prevent foul smell in your kitchen area and prevents clogging up in your drain.

6.            You might notice plant or root like growths in your drain after a period of usage. Remove it with hot water mixed with acidic liquid like vinegar. It is also advisable to have a professional drainage personnel look at the drain if you notice more of these foreign growths.

Residential kitchens can use a plunger as the simplest tool to clean kitchen drain. Another option if the plunger does not work is a small plumber's snake or auger, an inexpensive and handy tool. Another option is to use a regular garden hose. The pressure from the water will loosen the clog. If these small tools do not work, you can buy chemicals from a grocery store that can break up the drain clots. These chemicals are effective, but just be conscious of your usage since these chemicals are not environment friendly. When all your efforts fail, you can call your local plumber who can do the job more efficiently with his experience and bigger tools.
